How much does personal training cost?
Single sessions, packages and monthly coaching compared, what drives the price, and what to ask before you pay.
Personal training is hard to compare when one gym sells sessions, another sells monthly plans and a third bundles training into a membership. Here's how the common setups work, what you're actually paying for, and what we charge at Broward Strength in Davie, so you have a real number to compare against.
The three ways training is sold
- Single sessions: you pay per session with a coach. The simplest option, and usually the most expensive per session.
- Session packages: you buy a block of sessions up front at a lower price per session. Good when you know you'll keep coming.
- Monthly coaching: a coach writes your program and checks your training for a flat monthly price, whether you train with them or on your own. Often called online coaching or remote programming.
What drives the price
- Time with the coach. An hour of one-on-one attention costs more than a program you follow on your own.
- The coach's background. Certifications, competition experience and years of coaching all show up in the price.
- What's included. Some prices cover gym access, a program for the days between sessions, nutrition or check-ins. Others are just the hour.
- Commitment. Packages and monthly plans usually cost less per session than paying as you go.
What we charge
At Broward Strength, prices are simple and there are no tiers:
- One-on-one sessions: 5 for $400, which is $80 a session and saves you $100. Single sessions are $100.
- Coaching: $100 a month. A plan fully customized to your goals in the Training Portal app, updated monthly, with feedback on every lift you log and full access to your coach. Same price whether you train at our gym or anywhere else.
- Nutrition plan: $40 a month, built around your strength, body-composition or weight goal.
- Gym membership: $100 a month, 24/7, month to month with no initiation fee. Coaching doesn't require a membership.
You can combine them: a 5-pack of sessions to learn the lifts with a coach next to you, then monthly coaching to keep progressing on your own.
Questions to ask before you pay
- Who writes my program, and how often does it change?
- What happens between sessions? Do I get a plan for the days I train alone?
- How do I reach my coach, and how fast do they answer?
- Is there a contract or a cancellation fee?
- Does the price include gym access?
A good coach answers all of these without hesitating. If the answers are vague, keep looking.
