DOTS: 386.1
Total 1315 lb (596.5 kg) at 198 lb bodyweight
What a DOTS score is.
A bigger lifter can usually total more, so totals alone don't tell you who's stronger. DOTS puts everyone on one scale: it divides your total by a curve fitted to bodyweight, so a 148 lb lifter and a 275 lb lifter can be compared fairly. It was introduced in 2019, and federations like USA Powerlifting and the USPA use it to pick the best lifter at a meet.
The formula: DOTS = total × 500 ÷ (a + b·bw + c·bw² + d·bw³ + e·bw⁴), with bodyweight (bw) and total in kilos and separate constants for men and women. Bodyweight is held between 40 and 210 kg for men and 40 and 150 kg for women.
Raising your score.
Your score only moves two ways: a bigger total or a lighter bodyweight for the same total. For most lifters the total is where the points are. A program built around your weak lift and your meet date does more than cutting weight. That's what our coaching is for, and the gym has the combo racks, power bars and calibrated plates to train for it.
Questions.
What is a good DOTS score?
There's no official scale, but as a rough guide for raw lifters: around 300 is a solid first-meet score, 400 and up is competitive at a national level, and the best lifters in the world score above 500.
Is DOTS better than Wilks?
DOTS was built on newer meet data and treats very light and very heavy lifters more evenly than the original Wilks formula. That's a big part of why federations moved away from Wilks after 2019.
Do I enter pounds or kilos?
Either. Pick lb or kg at the top. The math runs in kilos either way, so your score is the same.
Does DOTS work for women?
Yes. DOTS has separate formulas for men and women. Pick the category you compete in.
Which federations use DOTS?
USA Powerlifting and the USPA use DOTS for best lifter awards. IPF meets, including Powerlifting America, use IPF GL points instead. Check your meet's rulebook.
